(Definitions for RTAS/VST/DAW are at the bottom of this page)
For people in need of a decent sequencer or a solid sample player, I'm posting the free trial link so you can take it for a test drive (I think it runs on trial mode for around 10 days):
Download iDrum free trial
I'd like to give you all the full version, but I'd end up in hot water with Izotope. If you like it and decide you want to get the full version, what I can offer you is a discount:
On the main Izotope site, they're selling iDrum for $59 dollars.
If you follow my affiliate link to Zzounds, you can get it for $49.99, and I get a small comission for the referral - this helps me to keep this site going so I can give ya more free stuff!
Don't take my word for it though, check it out:

Zzounds site:
I've dealt with Zzounds before, and they're a reputable retailer. If you decide to buy iDrum, or any software from a different music dealer site, please be careful - there's more than a few weasels out there. Follow your instincts.

iDrum works by itself, or as a plugin to many popular DAWs like: Pro Tools, Ableton, GarageBand, and more. Of course, if you're using Fruity Loops, you won't need iDrum because FL already has high powered sequencing available (it can just be harder to learn and much more expensive).
DAW: Digital Audio Workstation, it means any program that allows you to digitally create, arrange, record and compose music. Some examples are Ableton, Cakewalk, Cubase, Pro Tools, Fruity Loops, Reaper, etc.
Plugin: This is any program, such as iDrum, which runs inside a DAW. It's represented by an interface in the music program, and visually and musically re-creates equipment that would be found in a traditional recording studio.
VST(s): Virtual Studio Technology, this refers to plugins (virtual effects, virtual instruments, etc) which simulate real instruments and effects by affecting the digital signal. Most DAWs recognize and use VST plugins.
RTAS: Real Time Audio Suite, this refers to plugins (virtual effects and instruments) in the same way as VST, but are used in many Mac programs and Pro Tools, even if Pro Tools is run on a PC.
